George Hunzinger was a furniture maker during the later half of the 19th century. He emigrated to the United States in 1855 and began manufacturing furniture in New York City. Like his contemporary furniture makers of the Victorian Age, Hunzinger's pieces are very decorative. What is unique about his furniture is the innovative and distinctive designs he patented. This site contains information and photo's of Hunzinger's work.

U.S. Patent No. 522014
This is the Hunzinger patent for the game table. Patent granted on: June 26, 1894.
I have this table. It was my grandmother's, bought from a cousin during the depression, handed down to my mother, then to me. You can still hear pennies moving between the sides when the table is turned that I slid inside when my mother hosted poker-ke-no games in the late 50's and early 60's. It was in constant use until given to me about 10 years ago, and is now used only rarely. The legs that hold the latches have spread slightly and the table will flip if too much pressure is placed above either latch.
