George Hunzinger was a furniture maker during the later half of the 19th century. He emigrated to the United States in 1855 and began manufacturing furniture in New York City. Like his contemporary furniture makers of the Victorian Age, Hunzinger's pieces are very decorative. What is unique about his furniture is the innovative and distinctive designs he patented. This site contains information and photo's of Hunzinger's work.

A man and his chair...
Tony sent me this fine period picture of a man and his Hunzinger chair. Looks pretty happy doesn't he. And why not, he has his own Hunzinger. I'd be happy too!
Hunzinger chairs were popular with photographers in the late 19th century; they were frequently used as studio props (as in the case of this studio portrait). I have seen them in stereoviews as well as cabinet photos and carte de visites.

I own this chair. Unfortunatly it has been painted then restored, but it is beautiful.
Sweet. If you get a chance, send me the pic. I would be thrilled to post it.
