Hunzinger Que Stick Stand???

This is being sold as a Hunzinger piece. Although it is absolutely very cool and Hunzingerish, I'd really like to see some evidence. In any case, it would still look good in the house. If anyone knows more about the stand, please let me know. (thx Christa for tipping me off to it!)

Hunzinger Folding Chair

I so want this folding chair. The seller posted a great set of pictures which include the locking mechanism that set's the chairs position. He also posted a great shot of the patent stamp. Pat. Feb 6, 1866.

Hunzinger Platform Rocker

Hunzinger's platform rockers are my favorite design. The spring mechanism used creates a rocking motion different from other chairs. The design is quite comfortable and they just look really great in your house. This one on sale at eBay is fantastic. Note the great shot of the duplex spring and the patent sticker. The two rockers we have came with the sticker as opposed to an imprint stamp. I don't have information as to when the company started using stickers on the pieces.

Hunzingerish

This Hunzingerish platform rocker is being accurately sold as "in the style of George Hunzinger". Nice to see that they are marketing it correctly. Note the differences in construction - specifically the spring mechanism and the angle braces beneath the arms. Of course there are a ton of platform rockers on this site to which one can compare.

Hunzinger Rocker

A reader (Bart) sent me the photo of this fine piece. Stamped Hunzinger in need of a little TLC. The owner got this for $200 from eBay a few years ago... before Hunzingers got hit by name-brand inflation. He is having it re-upholstered. I'll try to post a pick when it is recovered. (thx Bart for sharing)

Hunzinger Lollipop Platform Rocker

This is an absolutely wonderful piece. The first platform duplex-spring rocker in the lollipop style that I have seen. Absolutely marvelous.

Hunzingerish

This chair is listed as "Hunzinger Style" which is an accurate description. It doesn't match any of his known patents and is meerly similar in style to his folding chairs. Nice bamboo though...

Hunzinger Chair

This one is in fairly good shape and on eBay right now. What is remarkable is how many pictures the seller posted - 12! I only put up five her to save space. Note the patent stamp and what appears to be very old upholstery covering the horse-hair padding. I found this same horse-hair padding on my chair... who knows... could have been the same horse!!! If you want to see the ebay listing, the eBay link is up at the RareVictorian.

Super cool Hunzinger chair

Check this one out. The most detail and ornamentation I have seen on this model Hunzinger chair. Very nice. Wish I had more pics of it.

Hunzinger Platform Rocker

This one is very nice. It has the twisted spindles like the Hunzinger my wife has and a leather upholstery like the one I have. I like it!

Two Patent Stamps

Here are two patent stamp images that are found on Hunzinger chairs. (I have probably posted these before along with the chairs to which they belong... however, I am cleaning out my pictures directory and want to make sure I have posted all my current Hunzinger stuff. I would look through all my posts... but, I think this is faster.)

Hunzinger chair - Original Upholstery?

People frequently inquire as to what the original upholstery looks like for Hunzinger chairs... well, I really don't know. I suspect that the more beat-up the upholstery is, the more likely that it is original. In this case... it is pretty much ripped to shreds. Still a beautiful chair.

George Hunzinger: A Man Ahead of His Time

I found this auction item at ArtFact. Evidently the piece is from the early 29th Century. Which puts Hunzinger approximately 1000 years ahead of his time. He is definitely unmatched by other Victorian Furniture makers of the era. The rocker looks to be in good condition... which is a bit surprising as it's creation caused a rift in the time-space continuum!

Hunzinger patented table

I found this one over on the Rare Victorian Fourm. A gentleman posted pics of his table along with the attached patent plaq. If you are interested in getting some answers about victorian furniture you may have, the members of the forum always provide good feedback. Kudos to RareVic for setting it up.

Hunzingerish

Hunzinger? Not so much...
You can pick these fine chairs up on eBay right now. Although they aren't Hunzingers, they are quite nice and from the same era. How can you tell? The spring system and lack of patent marks. Still pretty though.
