A man and his chair...

Tony sent me this fine period picture of a man and his Hunzinger chair. Looks pretty happy doesn't he. And why not, he has his own Hunzinger. I'd be happy too!

Thx again Tony!

Christa sent me a few websites where you can find more Hunzinger info. I'm going to post these links, but you can also find them under the research section on the left.

The Met

If anyone else knows of different links, please send them my way! Thanks!

Rotating Top Game Table

This Hunzinger game table is slightly different than all the others I have seen. In addition to the felt fabric backing, this table has a large number of pockets for chips or cards or whatever they used 140 years ago...

Thx Christa for sending it to me!

Another awesome platform rocker

I missed the selling price on this one. It is a beautiful platform rocker. I wish they had posted more pictures.

Folding Chair

Another nice Hunzinger folding chair. Fabric looks bad enough that it could be original. This one got listed at $500. Not sure if it sold or not. Check out the locking mechanism in the arms - appears you can recline it to different angles. Never seen that before.

Lazy Blogger 2: Revenge of the Chair

I got a bit behind on my Hunzinger blogging... well, way behind. Christa has sent me 12 different pieces to post over the last 30 days and I am just now posting them. They are some awesome stuff. Check out this chair:

Great condition, and check out the nice pic of the frame! First time I have gotten a pic of the frame!

Hunzinger Chair

John, of The Rare Victorian, sent me a pic of his own Hunzinger chair. A very nice piece. Always cool to get pics from readers! Thx John!

Hunzinger Folding Chair

Christa sent me these photos from eBay. This folding chair is one of the best I have seen. Stamped, pefect condition, and a very nice upholstery job. It's going to go on the auction block for a whole lot of cash.

Hunzinger Folding Game Table

This is listing on eBay right now. It is a folding game table. The seller says that it has a Hunzinger patent plate on the bottom. It is covered by an awful fabric. Hopefully that is not original! I have not seen a square Hunzinger game table before. Perhaps it is on one of the patents that I have not researched yet. The pictures of the hinges and the cups on the table are pretty cool. Not sure why the photographer felt that a wild beast needed to be included in the picture... interesting.

Hunzinger Platform Rocker

This platform rocker has most of the same components as Christa's rocker. Except for the top of the seat back, it is identical. Of course it does have possibly the worst upholstery I have seen in some time...

Hunzinger Gaming Table

This gaming table looks to be in great condition. I wish I could get it. It is one of his pattented pieces. Very nice. Selling on eBay right now.

Hunzinger Rocker

Standard Rocker - Hunzinger Lollipops

This is a perfect example of a really nice Hunzinger with really bad upholstery. Luckily that is easy enough to change. It is for sale on eBay now.

The Rare Victorian

If you like Victorian era furniture, which you almost certainly do as you are checking out some 19th century Hunzinger pics right now, Check out RareVictoian.com! John W does a great job at hunting down every Victorian era furniture piece on the web and posting pics & links to it. It is absolutely a must see if you like this type of stuff. I highly recomend subscribing to it.

Lazy Blogger v. George Hunzinger

Where do I get all these Hunzinger pics? Well, when I first started this blog, I looked up maybe about 10 on my own. But since then, Christa finds all the ones off eBay for me and other readers send me links and pics as well. Quite frankly, I haven't had to search for a picture to post in like 6 months. Between this torrent of Hunzingers being sold on eBay and several readers (Tony & John W) sending me perhaps 40 chair pics they have gathered, I am backlogged. For a lazy blogger, being backlogged is the best thing in the world! Thanks to everyone who sends pics my way!

Oh, and for anyone reading, please send pics of your own Hunzinger pieces. I would love to post them!

Finally, Here is another awesome piece from the Met. This one is featured in Harwood's book.

Hunzinger Folding Chair

I would love to be able to break out a set of these folding chairs when company comes over... however, I will have to be content to just look at it on my blog. :( Check out the woodwork...

Corner Chair

Another Victorian era chair being billed as Hunzinger. This piece did not sell at its listed price of $325. But it is a fine chair and I'm sure it will go back up for auction sometime. Check it out:

The Mother of All Hunzinger Chairs...

This piece being sold on eBay is one of the finest pieces of furniture known to man. (IMHO) It is simply marvelous. Although it needs to be dusted and a few hundred bucks worth of new upholstery, it is one step away from being magnificent. A pristine version of this Hunzinger chair was shown in Harwood's book. Check them both out:

Note: I'll post the ending bid tommorow. Bidding ends in 40 minutes.
UPDATE: Sold for $4806. Worth it? I think so.

Hunzinger Plant Stand?

This interesting plant stand is being billed as a Hunzinger. Regardless of the manufacturer, it is very cool and I'm sure there are very few of these around. The seller is posting this one on eBay with a starting bid of $1700 and a Buy it now price of $2200. So far there are no bids on it. Although it may be overpriced, I suspect it may have to do with the pictures. For whatever reason, the seller chose to take the very blurry pictures next to what appears to be a trash pile and a ruined couch.

Hunzingerish

Yet again, people will list anything with a twisted part as a Hunzinger. Although this chair is very Hunzingerish, the manufacture's mark is definitly not.

Hunzinger? Not so much.

This is another rocker on eBay labled Hunzinger. The person listing the item did not cite a patent number or stamp. The design does not corrolate with any known pattented designs. Although it looks as if it could be a piece from that era, I suspect that George had nothing to do with it.
