Hunzinger Lollipop Platform Rocker

Although I am not a big fan of the lollipop style chair, I find this one exquisite. It is a platform rocker with a paper Hunzinger label. It is listing on eBay right now for $750.

Hunzinger?

People on ebay will list just about any Victorian era piece with a spindle as being a Hunzinger. Although this chair is quite nice, it really doesn't have any distintive style that would indicate it being crafted by Geo. Hunzinger. It listed on eBay for $150, but did not sell.

Hunzingerish...

This rocker seems to have a lot of Hunzinger style, but is missing a few things. It does not use the patented spring system. It does not have castor wheels found on nearly every platform rocker I have seen. Finally, it does not have a Hunzinger stamp or paper lable. It went on auction for $89, but did not sell.

Totally Awesome Platform Rocker

This totally awesome platform rocker recently sold on eBay for $200 bucks. The really ugly upholstery probably brought it down in price.

Hunzinger Chair & Platform Rocker

Pepsi Addict sent us pictures of a matching Hunzinger chair and platform rocker. They have been passed down through the familly from her great, great, great, grandfather. Although neither the rocker or chair has a stamp, they are both obviously of Hunzinger design. One interesting thing about the chair is the claw-feet. It matches those of several other pieces we have found including this bench that I thought might be a Merklen.

This is an advertisement for Hunzinger furniture. This particular image was probably scanned from Harwood's book.

Hunzinger Mirror?

This is the first mirror I have ever seen attributed to Hunzinger. Obviously no stamp. It does have cute little turnings though....

Hunzinger "Styled" Rocker

No stamp on this rocker, but it is definitly similar to other pieces by Hunzinger. The only thing I would question is the placement of the cross-brace. In this piece, the cross-brace appears to be there just for looks & to hold up the arm rests as opposed to being the front legs of the chair.

Hunzinger Stool?

This really cool stool was listed on eBay as being made by Hunzinger. No stamp was noted or any other documentation provided. Regardless of it's origin, it is a very nice piece.

Reclining Chair - 1866 Patent

This is a great peice on eBay and a perfect example of how not to upholster your fine 140 year-old antique Hunzinger folding chair. That patern looks like a cross between a lawn chair from Lowes and a needlepoint of letuce and rotten tomatos. I'll try to update this in a day or so with the sale price.

Lollipop Rocker

This must have been one of his most well liked designs for rockers and chairs. This one is advertized as being constructed of maple.
