Green Platform Rocker

This sweet platform rocker was listed on eBay. Although the owner could not find the stamp, it is definitly a Hunzinger. The stamp was most likely on the under-side of the platform - this is where it is located on both rockers Christa and I own.

Hunzinger Chair - On Craigs List

Tex passed emailed this cool Hunzinger to me. It is from a Craig's List post and is for sale at $975.00. It has been re-upholstered, but looks in top quality condition. Thanks Tex!

Hunzinger for Sale

A reader is wishing to sell this Hunzinger Platform Rocker. If anyone is interested, just leave an email address in the comments section and the seller will contact you. Although these pics are from a Cell phone, the chair looks to be in great shape... and those carvings on the back are very cool. A fine piece indeed.

Not a Hunzinger

This Merklen chair is amazing. I got the picture from The Rare Victorian. Chairs like this one are frequently attributed to Hunzinger, but if you look over all the furniture pics on my site, you will start to see that the spindles on this piece are nothing like the rest of George Hunzinger's works. If this style is more to your liking than Hunzinger, I highly recomend checking out the Rare Victorian. You will see a wide variety of furniture from the Victorian age. (Thanks again for the pic John.)

Hunzinger Rocker

This fine piece went on eBay for $3,800.00!!! That is the highest I have seen a single Hunzinger Rocker sell for on eBay.

A brief note on the photo: My wife searches out pictures of Hunzinger furniture all the time and sends me the links and pics. (Thanks so much sweetie!) Unfortunately, like a ding-bat, I did not get the pictures off of eBay soon enough and all I was left with was a single thumbnail.

Hunzinger?

Is this a George Hunzinger chair? Who knows... in any case, it is very cool. (Thx to The Rare Victorian for sending it my way.)

Parlor Table

This is the base of a Hunzinger parlor table. It was selling on eBay but did not have a top. I missed the selling price, but it is nice to see the close-up picutures of the spindles and engravings.

Beat up rocker

This is the condition Hunzinger chair which needs a little tender love & care, but when given, brings great reward. Although it is a bit beat up, nothing that a little upholstery, cleaning & stain won't fix.

I think I will take up piano

This is another Hunzinger piano stool. Very cool. Check out how the mechanism works. Nice of the seller to include that pic.

Oak Hunzinger Lollipop

This one is going for auction on eBay. Estimates are $400 - $600

OMG... This chair is phat!

I want this Hunzinger. Currently listed at $750 on eBay. Looks to be in super condition. If any readers want to donate money so that I can get this chair, please feel free to send it my way! ;)

(thx Christa for sending it my way!)

Lollipop

Great condition Lollipop chair. Looks to have all orignal upholstery. Currently at $400 - reserve not met.

Here is an interesting thing. The person got this in an estate sale, and along with the lollipop chair came this other chair. Most likely hunzinger. Is it not the cutest little thing? :)

Oak Hunzinger Piano Chair

This chair was sent to me by DovetailAntiques. Appears to be in awesome condition, and may have the original upholstery. It also has a Hunzinger tag. Dovetail enquired as to the estimated value of the piece... If anyone can make an estimate, please post in the comments. I'll say $500 - $800 if sold on eBay... however, I am not an appraiser, but merely a collector and fan of George's work. Thx again to Dovetail for the pics!

Bad Blogger

Wow... 40 days no posts on my site... Bad blogger! Bad!

Anyway. Have been busy with other stuff, so my other blogs got short-shifted as well. I wish I could find something good to blame it on, but I'll go ahead and say... Halo 3. :)

(If anyone is up for a game, my gamer tag is the same is my blogger tag!

Ransom Mirror

Paul Tucker, an expert on Moorish Fretwork furniture, was kind enough to send some concrete evidence that the mirror posted previously is not a Hunzinger piece at all, but one constructed by a furniture maker named: Moses Younglove Ransom. He made some magnificent pieces with those turned wood spindles... many in the exact same pattern as the mirror.

Here is the "smoking gun"

Thanks Paul for the correction!

Hunzinger Mirror

This very cool mirror is being listed on eBay as a Hunzinger piece. At first I was somewhat skeptical about the claim. The piece has no tag nor is it shown in any books on Hunzinger. But, after further examination of the photos I am completely convinced that this is indeed a Hunzinger mirror. Check out the pics of the mirror first.

Note the corners of the mirror on the pic below - square blocks with a circular carving.

Now check out these three stamped Hunzinger chairs. Notice the extremely similar square blocks with circular carvings at joints in the chairs. My guess is that Hunzinger didn't bother to pattent or stamp anything that did not have a specific mechanical part in the design.

It's hard to tell, but this particular rocker (below) appears to have the exact same blocks as the mirror.

Hunzinger Rocker w/ Patent Stamp

Check out the bamboo style rocker & the patent stamp. The chair's original wire & cloth webbing has been removed and replaced with what appears to be bailing twine or something similar. As the wire is irreplaceable, if it breaks or wears beyond use, one has to resort to replacing it with something inferior. :(
This one is listing on ebay for $195. Not a bad deal.
